Job Description Manager, Maintenance Job Summary

Manages one or more of the daily CCRG operations functions on or off airport to ensure maximization of fleet utilization, incremental revenue, customer satisfaction and employee management. Performs duties and provides service in accordance with established operation procedures and company policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This job manages the Maintenance function for a location or number of locations as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities, shown below, will vary accordingly based on assignment.

  • Coordinates all activities related to the mechanical repair and maintenance of CCRG fleet vehicles to provide mechanically sound vehicles for rental, sales, and shuttling activities.

  • Ensures high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.

  • Performs various activities related to the ordering, receipt, control and distribution of auto parts, maintenance tools, and supplies and/or assists the Parts Supervisor with these tasks.

  • Manages vendor/provider relationships to negotiate prices and terms of business agreements.

  • Ensures that CCRG repair policies are adhered to.

  • Investigates customers’ claims of mechanical failure. Communicates results of investigations to City M&D Manager and may compose letters of defense or explanation to customers.

  • Forecasts how many vehicles will be completed by Maintenance for assigned location rental needs. Assigns extra mechanics to locations needing assistance, and notifies managers responsible for unavailable vehicles (e.g. Turnback) to resolve mechanical problems.

  • Investigates all vehicles in the out-of-service status to determine extent of mechanical service needed. Initiates repair orders and assigns technicians to efficiently return car to for-rent status.

  • Assists M&D Manager in monitoring all cars placed in external shops to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of quality work.

  • At Busing Locations: Ensures that all buses are up and running and coordinates mechanical and body damage repairs.

  • May control all new car deliveries to ensure proper prepping, tagging, and numbering. Verifies that new vehicles are inspected and a sticker is applied to prepare them for rental.

  • Ensure technicians participate in training programs to ensure that they meet manufacturer training standards.

  • Review ADP generated reports for productivity and capacity and take corrective action for low performers. Review repair orders for accuracy and submit to WHQ.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Ensures proper staffing and the use of overtime hours to maximize the effectiveness of the Maintenance function. Conducts annual performance appraisals for direct reports, recommends salary increases, provides individual feedback to improve performance, and initiates corrective action in response to personnel problems. Directs the training of new employees to perform their duties in a manner consistent with company standards.

This job impacts the operation by ensuring customer and employee satisfaction and effective fleet utilization and incremental revenue generation. This job works within established guidelines and procedures exercising some independent judgment.

Grade levels for this job are shown below.

  • Level III (grade 13) is typically accountable for a location with revenue of approximately $50 million or less, an average annual fleet size of 5,000 or less, and annual damage of $2 million or less. This level typically has less than two years supervisory experience.

  • Level IV (grade 14) is typically accountable for a location with revenue between $50 and $100 million, an average annual fleet size between 5,000 and 10,000, and annual damage of $2 to $4 million. A minimum of two years supervisory experience and prior car-rental experience is preferred for this level.

  • Level V (grade 15) is accountable for a location with revenue of $100 million or greater, an average annual fleet size of 10,000 or greater, and annual damage of $4 million or greater. A minimum of five years supervisory and car rental experience is preferred for this level.

  • High School Degree plus 2-4 years of college preferred (or equivalent in education, experience or training).

  • Minimum of one year of supervisory management experience required; three or more years of supervisory management experience preferred in a service oriented field.

  • Effective supervisory, communication, organizational, and creative problem solving skills.

  • Ability to effectively interact with vendors, customers and the public.

  • Ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

  • Knowledge of ERO systems preferred.
