Our team is looking for an Operations Research Scientist to provide operations research problem solving expertise and cutting-edge analytics to support Revenue and Fleet Management decisions at Avis Budget Group. This position will build mathematical models, and present actionable insights from research to support the management in decision-making.

You will engage with our business users to ensure that analytics and solutions meet business needs and drive continuous improvements to the solutions. You will also work with business users to design/build analytics tools, perform data analysis to garner business insights, and support/enhance decision support systems.

Job Summary

The Decision Technology team at Avis Budget Group works closely with the Revenue Management and Fleet teams to provide scientific solutions to everyday business decisions, and to improve business strategies and processes influencing:

  • Pricing strategy

  • Demand Forecasting & Optimization

  • Competitor Analysis & Market Research

  • Fleet Purchasing, Operations, and Disposal

Essential duties include, but are not limited, to:

  • Engaging with business users to understand business challenges, how users are approaching these challenges, and identify solutions that will support the decision making process.

  • Designing, developing, and implementing decision support tools.

  • Translating data insights into actions and recommendations that will drive better revenue and fleet decisions

  • Identifying automation opportunities to help business team increase time spent analyzing results

Work and Education Requirements

  • Master's degree required in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics or other Quantitative disciplines (Outstanding Bachelor’s degree candidates will be considered)

  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., VB/VBA, Java, C/C++), databases queries (e.g., Oracle, SQLServer, Access), statistical packages (e.g., SAS, R), and/or optimization packages (e.g., CPLEX, GAMS, OPL, FICO® Xpress/DASH)

  • Minimum of 2 years of data analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent documentation skills required
