Avis Budget Group Senior Accountant--Financial Reporting in Parsippany, New Jersey
Assists with the statutory reporting function. Compiles financial statements including footnotes to be audited for our subsidiaries in Canada and Puerto Rico. Performs consolidation, equity account reconciliations and journal entries. Prepares support documents for quarterly financial report and annual financial statements. Performs internal accrual testing and assists with the collection of audit requests. Files quarterly reports with the Canadian government. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assists with the preparation of financial statements including the statements of cash flows (which are audited) for our subsidiaries in Canada and Puerto Rico.• Assists with the consolidation of the subsidiaries used in the financial statement preparation.• Maintains the journal entries unique to statutory reporting.• Assists in the research of accounting rules as stated in the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and US GAAP.• Assists in the preparation of pension related adjustments to bring balances in line with ASPE.• Maintains the documentation supporting the financial statements and footnotes.• Reviews the balance sheet accounts and roll forwards used in preparing the financial statements.• Assists with the identification of related party transactions requiring disclosure.• Assists auditors with audits of the statutory entities.• Performs balance sheet account reconciliations and month end journal entries.• Assists with quarterly flux explanations for various accounts.• Assists with subsequent events accrual testing required by Deloitte at year end.• Ad-hoc requests, projects and monthly/quarterly account analysis of general ledger and accounts.
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance required.• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial reporting and/or general accounting.• CPA and/or Public Accounting experience preferred.• Financial reporting experience strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Requires excellent analytical ability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in teams.• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.• Good oral and written communication skills required.• Possesses Intermediate Excel skills. • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills.• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and act with a sense of urgency.• Experience with Oracle Fusion and FCCS preferred.• Knowledge of ASPE preferred.
